Heirloom Trowel
by  Ethan Vodrey

This trowel is designed to be a family heirloom used in coming-of-age ceremonies where the knowledge of planting and growing is passed down from one generation of the family to the next. I used CNC milling to carve the wood handle, the wood stand, and to create the model which was lost wax cast to form the trowel scoop. Through this piece I explored the capacity of heirlooms to touch our lives.
